Rob Douglass discussing a 60-Day Business MOT health check with a small business owner
60-Day Business MOT · For businesses under £500k turnover

A clear, honest check-up for your business, before small problems become big ones

Running a smaller business often means doing everything yourself, with no time to step back and see things clearly.

The 60-Day Business MOT is a structured review across 60 days: a straightforward look at what’s working, what isn’t, and what to fix first.

No ongoing commitment. Just an honest picture of where things stand, and a clear next step.

Smaller businesses carry the same pressure, just with fewer people to share it with

You’re doing every job yourself, from sales to invoicing
Cashflow is tight and hard to predict month to month
You don’t have time to work on the business, only in it
You’re not sure your pricing or margins are actually right
Growth feels risky because you’re not sure what would break first
No one has ever looked at the business properly from the outside

None of this means the business is failing.

It usually means nobody has had the time, or the outside perspective, to look at it properly.

A clear picture, a written plan, and 60 days of follow-through

The 60-Day Business MOT looks at the areas that determine whether a small business is in good shape, and where the next problem is most likely to come from.

Financial health: margins, pricing and cashflow
Operational structure: how work actually gets done day to day
Customer & sales: where revenue really comes from
Owner dependency: what only you can currently do
Growth readiness: what would break first if you grew
A clear, written action plan of what to fix first
Two online follow-up sessions, at 30 and 60 days

Questions I get asked

Who is the 60-Day Business MOT for?

Owners of smaller businesses, typically turning over up to £500,000. It suits people who are doing most jobs themselves and have never had anyone look at the business properly from the outside.

How much does it cost?

£1,250 plus VAT. That covers all three sessions across the 60 days, the written action plan from session one, and the two online follow-ups. The first conversation, before you commit to anything, is free.

What does the 60-Day Business MOT cover?

Financial health, including margins, pricing and cashflow. Operational structure, meaning how work actually gets done day to day. Customers and sales, and where revenue really comes from. Owner dependency, or what only you can currently do. Growth readiness, meaning what would break first if you grew.

What do I get at the end?

A written action plan from session one, covering what is working, what is not, and what matters most to fix first. Then two online follow-up sessions to keep it moving.

Do I have to work with you afterwards?

No. The 60-Day Business MOT is a fixed piece of work across 60 days, and it ends there unless you want it to continue. Session three includes deciding whether Early-Stage Mentoring makes sense, but there is no obligation either way.

How does it work?

It runs as three sessions across 60 days. Session one is in person at your business, taking a fresh, objective look at your numbers, your people, your market and your operations, and it ends with a written action plan. Session two is online, 30 days later, checking progress against that plan and resetting priorities. Session three is online, 60 days later, reviewing the full 60 days and deciding what happens next.

Is the 60-Day Business MOT in person or online?

Session one is normally in person, at your business. That matters, because seeing how the place actually runs tells you things a call cannot. The two follow-up sessions are online, one hour each.

How long does the whole thing take?

Sixty days from start to finish. Session one is in person, session two is online after 30 days, and session three is online after 60 days.

What if my turnover is above £500k?

Between £500k and £1m, it depends on the business, so get in touch and we will work out which option fits best. Above £1m, Ongoing Mentoring or Strategic Consultancy is usually the better fit.
